How it Works

Step 1: Determine the Need for Mediation

  • Confirm that the issue you are facing is suitable for mediation (disputes related to contracts, family matters, workplace issues, etc.). If you are uncertain if your dispute is suitable for mediation, feel free to reach out to us to confirm.
  • Ensure that all parties involved in the dispute are open to mediation, as it is a voluntary process.

Step 2: Create a new dispute or respond to an existing one

Register and pay the registration fee. Submit your dispute details and proposed settlement. The other party will be notified and can respond. Work together to resolve your dispute online, or request mediation if needed.

Step 3: Fees

Pay the dispute registration fee:

  • R500 per party; or
  • R750 if paid in full by the Claimant (recommended for faster processing).

Step 4: Upload proof of payment

Once verified, the dispute is unlocked

    Step 5: The Respondent

    • Views the claim,
    • Accepts the proposal, OR
    • Makes a counter-proposal, OR
    • Requests mediation.

Step 6: Agreement & Resolution, Counter Offer or Mediation Request

    • If proposal is accepted, Settlement steps below are followed.
    • If a counter-proposal is made, Claimant receives an email with counter-proposal. Claimant can:
      • Accept counter-proposal, OR
      • Make a further counter-proposal, OR
      • Request mediation.
    • If mediation is requested:
      • Mediation fees are payable upfront.
      • An online session is scheduled.
    • If settlement is reached:
      • A Settlement Agreement is drafted.
      • Both parties sign and upload the signed agreement.
      • A PDF copy is available for download.

By following these steps, you can successfully book and prepare for a mediation session, ensuring a smoother, more organized process for resolving your dispute.
